Abstract
Paget¡¯s disease of bone is a chronic affliction of the adult skeleton featuring one or more area of aggressive osteoclastmediated bone resorption preceding imperfect osteoblast-mediated bone repair. Most patients are asymptomatic. Symptoms vary according to the extent and site of bone involvement. Frequently affected bones are the pelvis, spine, skull, and long bones. The two most common clinical manifestations are pain and deformities in affected areas. Paget¡¯s disease of bone shows a strong age-dependency. Marked geographical differences in prevalence of the
disease exist; that is common in the UK and United States. Conversely, extremely rare in the Korea. Treatment of
Paget¡¯s disease has several different therapeutic tools. Bisphosphonates, which decrease bone resorption by inhibiting
osteoclast resorption, are the treatment of choice. We report a case of Paget¡¯s disease in 36 year-old woman who
showed improvement in the symptoms and the serum alkaline phosphatase level after treatment with zoledronate and
pamidronate.
